For me, traveling and photography naturally go hand in hand. Traveling allows me to experience new places, cultures, and perspectives, while photography helps me capture and preserve those moments. I don’t consider myself a professional photographer, but I truly enjoy this hobby because it allows me to see the world more attentively and creatively.

Being a traveller photographer does not necessarily mean quitting your job or spending large amounts of money. With the right approach, it can remain a fulfilling hobby that fits into everyday life. Here is how I do it.

Having a Stable Job

One of the most important things that allows me to pursue this hobby is having a stable job. My main job provides a steady income, which means I do not need to rely on photography as a source of income.

Because of that, I can enjoy photography purely as a passion. I can slowly invest in photography gear, plan trips without financial pressure, and focus on enjoying the process of learning and capturing moments during my travels.

Having Plenty of Vacation Days

Another thing I truly appreciate about my job is the generous amount of vacation days I receive each year — more than 30 days of annual leave.

This gives me the flexibility to plan trips throughout the year. Sometimes I use long weekends for short trips, and other times I plan longer journeys to explore new destinations. These opportunities allow me to travel more often and expand my collection of travel photographs.

Managing Finances Wisely

To keep this hobby sustainable, I always try to manage my finances carefully. Traveling can become expensive if not planned properly, so I usually create a travel budget and set aside some savings specifically for trips.

This way, every journey is planned and financially prepared. It also helps me avoid unnecessary spending during my travels, allowing me to focus on the experience rather than worrying about money.

I often choose smaller cities, nature destinations, or less crowded places. These locations frequently offer unique scenes, authentic culture, and quiet moments that are perfect for photography.

Traveling with Friends

Another thing that makes traveling more enjoyable for me is going on trips with friends. Traveling together not only makes the journey more fun, but it can also help reduce costs since transportation and accommodation can be shared.

Friends also play a helpful role in photography. Sometimes they become subjects in my photos, and sometimes they help me find interesting angles or locations to shoot.
